Carson, as good as he is, lies just like any other kid. However, it is incredibly hard to definitively catch him in a lie. A couple of nights ago he went to the bathroom, and I just happened to ask him if he washed his hands. "Hand Sanitizer!" Well then let me smell them, I said. So he zipped back in the bathroom claiming he was also washing them with soap and water. Dessert was lost.
Fast forward to tonight. Same EXACT situation! But this time tried to claim he didn't say he used sanitizer! Lost dessert, sent right off to bed. Just went to check on him and he was fiddling with his iPod, so I told him I'd have to put it up if he didn't leave it alone and go to sleep. He just burst into tears! He couldn't come up with anything that was really wrong, and it just hit me a little while ago that it was probably the whole situation with getting caught lying, then being told he might lose his iPod. Even though he brought it all on himself, it still made him sad.
Here's hoping he learns something from this.

You can rest assured that it was a learning experience for him. Painful, but because you love him.
