We have a terrible problem with roots growing in our pipes and backing them up. We of course always find out the hard way when the basement bathroom floods from water being forced out around the base of the toilet. Normally it's not too bad. Water covers most of the floor but that's it. We've had one time this year that the enough water came out of the toilet to go under the wall into Carson's room.
This week was THE worst! Sunday night Carson was in one shower and I was in the other. I realized the water was backing up in the shower and when I got back it was covering the floor. Mopped it up, decided it was just too much with both showers. Monday afternoon I started a load of clothes and headed out to the gym. When I got home I got the bad news. Steve and Carson had already cleaned up the bathroom and the water had gotten the carpet at the bathroom door wet. Carson took his nightly bath shortly thereafter and we found the water must have poured out of the toilet while his water was going in his bath. It went under the vanity in our bathroom and under the wall into his room 2-3 feet. Water was almost standing in places in his room. We used almost every towel in the house, plus I mopped the water off the floor in the bathroom. The carpet was squishing when you walked.
RotoRooter (actually Joe's Drain or something like that) came again this morning, and once again pulled out more roots. How in the name of nature roots grew back again that fast, who knows. I'm surprised they don't know my credit card number by now, they've heard it so many times. Two young fellas, very nice and pleasant, and I truly think very competent. Heck I've seen what they pull out! Got to get a picture next time.
So hopefully the big fan we have will dry it all out. I'm worried about mold and mildew, but I guess we'll cross that bridge if we get to it.
