A New Week Begins

Sunday was a pretty quiet day. Carson and I went grocery shopping that morning. They have two rides outside the grocery store: the Race Car and the Merry-Go-Round. Car costs 50 cents and the merry go round only a quarter, so naturally I push the merry go round. He used to be scared to death of that thing, but lately it's what he wants to ride. Then we headed inside to scrutinize the carts for a truck cart. Unfortunately they were all taken, so we had to settle for another cart that just has a seat to sit on behind the buggy. He got his usual bagel and fruit rollup. We used to also get juice, but I cut that one out after he failed to drink it all in a week too many times. After we finished our shopping, before we pay, if Carson has behaved himself, he gets to play with the cars on the display for sale at the front of the store. This was one of those days. I speed read the trash magazines, then we headed on home.

Ah, but before we went home we stopped by Old McDonald's for a Happy Meal. Last time we got one, they gave him a crappy girl doll. You should have seen his face. We decided they didn't know he was a boy, and gave him the girl prize. She ended up in the trash. This time it was a frog kind of fellow - we were sure to tell them it was for a boy. You can push him down and his mouth stretches open. I don't think he'll be of interest too long either. The very best ones he's gotten are two Bionicles. Feel free to visit their extensive web site if you wish to know more about that marketing ploy.

After lunch we drove up to Park City. They were having a Navajo Rug Sale at Deer Valley. We got there in time to watch some of a Pow Wow. It would have been nice if we'd been close and/or gotten a seat, but him on my shoulders and me unable to see anything meant we didn't watch too long. There were beautiful rugs, but the one I wanted was $3,000 and I didn't think that was a wise impulse purchase.

We walked outside towards the ski slopes before we left to watch the snow makers blowing as hard as they could go. Ski season opens some places here next week. Carson is getting excited about it. I can't believe it's already almost here.
