Post Thanksgiving

Boy I've gone too long without writing! Let's see... Max's parents Mandy and Mark invited us to their house for Thanksgiving. We headed over there around 4 pm Thursday afternoon with salad and wine in hand. Besides just them, there were lots of other family members on both sides. All told, there were about 22 people there. Lots of good food, fellowship and drink. We walked in and they said Max was upstairs and wouldn't come down till Carson got there. Carson zoomed up the stairs, they came running down and hit the door to go outside. We didn't see them till dark. Then they played in the basement till time to go. At one point, Max said "Can Carson stay for a sleep over?" Carson said he wanted to, but I knew that would last till time for Mommy to go home. I think he'll be ready before too terribly long.

Friday we cooked our own $5, nearly 11 pound turkey. That evening we had turkey again, plus leftovers sent home with us from the Thanksgiving party. Saturday night we had barbque turkey, and Sunday night stir fry turkey. And the turkey was all gone! I didn't get a single turkey sandwich. I also don't think Carson ate much more than two bites of turkey the whole weekend.

Saturday was the Utah-BYU football game. Weather was right good - sunny and cold enough for a coat and gloves, but not freezing. A more exciting game I can't remember ever attending. With no time on the clock, the BYU quarterback is running back and forth, back and forth looking for an open man. AND HE FINDS HIM!! Unbelievable. We are all standing there with our mouths hanging open. Final score BYU 33, Utah 31.

Sunday morning I went to WalMart, Target, Babies R Us, WalMart, Shopko and Toys R Us, in a mostly fruitless effort to find some particular things for Carson for birthday and/or Christmas. Sunday afternoon Carson and I went to the Fairmont Aquatic Center. We had the best time! He ran under and through every waterfall. Didn't mind the water in his face at all. We stayed till they threw us out. Then went to Famous Footwear trying to find him some non tennis shoes he would agree to. Found some (size 9 1/2), went to pay, they had trouble ringing them up, finally said They're free! The sign by them said $29.99, they rang up as $10, and I had a $10 coupon. We got out of there before they could change their minds. Went to Old Navy to return a pair of pants for a larger size (4T!). They were on sale, so I ended up with another pair of pants for $5.86. Good shopping day. Why can't these things happen when you buy a car.

So the Thanksgiving holiday was really good. Only thing is Carson doesn't nap easily at home anymore, so we had a real bear on our hands some of those nights. Crabby doesn't begin to describe it.

Winter is fast approaching. The snow started late afternoon, and should continue at least through tomorrow, though it wasn't snowing a while ago. Highs in the twenties for a few days. Time to get the cold skin on...

Carson is learning to tie. First step towards figuring out shoe laces, I do believe. Except now they're mostly velcro...

Oh I scored a Buzz Lightyear on eBay! (Since Carson can't read I can post things like this...) I'm very excited. All joints are poseable, the button work and say things, the laser works, and the wings pop out. He will just flip out. He's already decided he's getting a Buzz Lightyear for his birthday, so thankfully we'll be able to oblige. We were trying to explain to him a few days ago that just because he asks for something for his birthday or Christmas doesn't mean he'll get it. Before we were done, his lip grew about two feet long, and his little head was hanging on his chest. But no tears.

He says Little like "Yittle", as in "There is just a Yittle Bit of candy, so can I have it?"

He has also told me he hates me several times now, but surprisingly enough it doesn't hurt my feelings. However, tonight he was getting a fast bath because he chose to play football with Daddy instead of having a long bath, and he decided to change his mind and just have a long bath anyway. Well needless to say that didn't fly, and he decided to tell me I was stupid. He's not wearing the football pants he wanted to wear tomorrow. That little mouth just runs way faster than his brain can think...

He's as long as the bathtub now when he lies flat. I keep telling him I'm going to shrink him down to a little baby. He just cackles.

Here's Carson and Steve playing football. Notice the yellow line on the floor. Carson kept asking at the football game Saturday where the yellow line was on the field. He's added a few things to his football outfitting. He had tape wrapped around his arms and ankles over the weekend cause he saw at least one player taped up. He now sticks one of his washcloths in his waistband, and calls it his rag (Steve keeps telling him it's a towel, but he insists on calling it a rag). And he wants to wear Steve's fanny pack. That's his version of the hand warmer.

Finally here's some postgame time, checking out the GB-Seattle game on the big screen. If you look carefully I think you can see drool coming out of his mouth. The tv is absolutely mesmerizing.

Aren't you glad that the turkey leftovers are only a memory?
